Mr. R and the crazies of High School

OK, i must ask should a freshman, no matter how good, be second (or as mr. r has threatend, first) chair without having earned it?

yes she is a fuqua and is probably better than me, but haven't i been in the program for 8 years, as of next year? hasn't adam already been through freshmen orientation and already know how to march and whats going on at games, contests, and other things?

i would really like to know what you think, even though it probably won't matter seeing how if rutherford puts kelsey second chair i'll quit, yes i will be gone just like that, and adam's mom will have a very long talk with the man

At the risk of bringing physical harm upon myself, I will not let my personal opinions influence this comment to much of an extent. Let us look at previous examples of such happenings and the facts behind said occurances.
First off, since the first year I became actively knowledgable of the workings of the High School Band was the year that Becky's grade were Freshmen, I will begin there. Alex Brown was a Junior that year. In case you don't know, he was first chair trombone. Brian Myers sat second. When Scott came in, he immediately challanged and beat Alex (Xander) and has sat first chair ever since. No one had a problem with it, except Alex, because he quit the next year on behalf of Scott's good attitude and humility. Nobody had a problem with Scott beating Brian Myers, because it was obviously the right thing.
Unless I am terribly mistaken, Becky sat first chair her Freshman year, in front of Lori, because Morgan Worley had quit. I believe there were only two flutes, and although I believe that Lori played piccolo during marching season, Becky definitely sat ahead of her in every other thing.
Mitchell never tried to beat Shelly out of her spot. He, as far as I have heard, was always content to let her have first chair since she was a senior member of the section. This did not keep him from sitting ahead of Ben, though, who was also a senior member. Shelly and Ben were both Juniors at the time.
As can be inferred from these occasions, if the talent and work ethic is present, grade DOES NOT MATTER in figuring out the placement of people in a section. Chair placement is, and always will be, based on the ability and musicianship of the individual players, and, to some extent, the leadership capabilities of said players.
I have provided facts, and have come up with a statement based solely on the observation of these facts. These are the things that have happened, and there is an obvious systematic method that governs chair placement based on these occurances.
Again, I do not wish to incur the wrath of a distraught and vehemet person, but you have asked for feedback, which I have provided readily.

i have also thought of all these occurences in every one the younger person "earned" their spot in ATSSB or some other chair ranking play off
my beef is the fact that there has not been one of those thus far this year and that the person in question would not make a good leader i say this based of observations i have made in being around her she is not mature enough and she just does not know how actually being in the high school band is
i say this just to clarify what i said in a very heated moment since it was not clear

All I'm going to say on this matter from now on is this:
Leaders are not there to be liked, they're there to do what needs to be done and reflect a good example.

but the people you are leading have to respect you enough to listen and in high school that equals being liked
